Baseball Season Begins for Alameda Schools
The high school baseball season started last week. Encinal High School went 1-1, defeating Skyline High (Oakland), 7-5, on Feb. 23 before losing, 6-0, to Liberty High (Brentwood) on Feb. 26.
“It was a good way to start off the season,” said Encinal’s David Costa after the win against Skyline. “We went into that game knowing we would win, but we didn’t know how we would win. That game showed us that we have a lot to work on as a team and individually.”
The Jets will face Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) on Friday, March 4, in their next contest.
Alameda High School opened their season with a 13-0 win over Kimball (Tracy) on Feb. 26. They will take on Edison High (Stockton) on Saturday, March 5 in their next game.
St. Joseph Notre Dame began its season against Albany High School on Tuesday, March 1, after the Alameda Sun went to press.
