Baseball Leagues to Host Fundraiser July 12
The Alameda Babe Ruth League is holding a fundraiser dinner to support Alameda’s youth baseball teams.
“Grandpa Joe’s Pasta and Tri-tip Dinner” will be a five-hour event that will take place this Saturday, July 12, at the Alameda Elks Lodge located at 2255 Santa Clara Ave. Guests will be treated to a pasta and tri-tip dinner. There will also be a silent auction at the event. Tickets cost $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
Proceeds of the event will go toward Alameda Babe Ruth, Alameda Merchants and the Alameda Baseball Academy. Alameda Babe Ruth is Alameda’s premier youth baseball league. Players in the Alameda Babe Ruth League range from 13 to 15 years old. Players in this league aren’t as experienced in the Alameda youth baseball system.
The Alameda Baseball Academy also has middle- and high-school aged players, but they have been playing organized baseball longer. The Alameda Merchants are a college-aged baseball team with players who attend college across California. They play in the nine-team Golden State Collegiate Baseball League.
The event starts at 5 p.m. To purchase a ticket, make checks payable to Alameda Babe Ruth and include the names of the attendees. Mail checks to 1315 Grand St., Alameda, CA 94501. For more information or to charge your tickets, contact Roan Kees at (510) 910-9457 or at rjkees@gmail.com.
