Artists Announced for 2020 City Hall Galleries
First show will open in January
The City of Alameda conducted a random lottery of 36 Art in City Hall applications and selected the following artists to display their works in City Hall during 2020:
- From Friday, Jan. 10, to Thursday, April 9, the First Floor Gallery will feature Alameda Studio Time with Patrice O’Farrell Hinz while the Third Floor Gallery displays works by Patti Cary.
- From Friday, April 10, to Thursday, July 9, the First Floor Gallery will feature the works of Claudia La Roche while the Third Floor Gallery features the Studio 1.6 Art School.
- From Friday, July 10, to Thursday, Oct. 8, the First Floor Gallery will feature works by: Lee, White, Heflin and LaRocca while the Third Floor Gallery displays Michael Halberstadt’s artwork.
- The Last show of 2020 will run from Friday, Oct. 9, to Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, and will feature Angela Hockabout’s artwork in the First Floor Gallery while the Third Floor Gallery displays the works of Alison Taggart-Barone.
The city thanked the artists and organizations who displayed their work in 2019: Cheryl Harawitz, Michelle Mohler, Jerome Szymczak Larry Wilson, the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Alameda Women Artists, West End Arts and Entertainment District and Island Alliance of the Arts.
The Art in City Hall program provides exhibit opportunities for professional and emerging Alameda artists and organizations, with the goal of supporting the local arts community, creating a memorable experience for the public and celebrating Alameda’s diverse history. Art is displayed in two galleries, on the first and third floors of City Hall. Each gallery features four exhibits per year.
