Arrest Made in Series of Boating Community Thefts
Alameda Police Department (APD) officers recently arrested a 29-year-old Hayward man accused of stealing high-valued boating equipment in the city’s boating community, according to an announcement on APD’s Facebook page.
APD did not release the name of the individual, but according to the APD daily activity log, Vyacheslav Sey was arrested on July 10 on the 1800 block of Sakas Street, where APD said the boat equipment theft arrest took place. Sey was charged with possession of burglary tools and a probation violation. APD said they were able to identify the suspect after analyzing physical and electronic evidence.
APD had been investigating a series of thefts targeting high-valued equipment in the city’s boating community. Since receiving the first report in May, APD detectives and marine patrol officers have been working to identify the responsible party. APD did not disclose the items that were stolen or their worth.
