McDaniels family helps instruct collaborative’s kids

After my younger brother Ryan McDaniels passed away unexpectedly in August 2012, several friends, family members and the the local swim community donated money in his name to create the Ryan McDaniels Aquatic Fund.

This summer the fund was able to pay for 12 children to take summer swim lessons on full scholarship with the Alameda Recreation and Park Department (ARPD). The children who received the scholarships are part of the Alameda Point Collaborative (APC). They could not afford swim lessons without this program’s assistance.

The McDaniels family is committed to continuing the scholarship program moving forward. We hope to expand the number of children receiving assistance in the future. The McDaniels family would also like to recognize Pravda Wright from APC, who helped organize the participants. Without her help we would not have been able to pull this off.
