Alamedan Pleads No Contest

An Alameda woman pled no contest to voluntary manslaughter for her involvement in the 2017 murder of a Hayward man on Friday, Aug. 23. Valeria Boden’s plea is the result of her role in the murder of Daniel Deltoro (“Local Woman Arrested for Murder in Hayward” Aug. 24, 2017). Boden said she drove her ex-boyfriend Brandon Follings and Pablo Mendoza to the location where they shot and killed Deltoro in Hayward on July 19.

Authorities believe the killing was revenge after Deltoro testified against the suspects’ associate in 2015.

Boden’s charge was dropped to voluntary manslaughter after she testified against Follings and Mendoza in their May murder trial. The two were sentenced to life in prison. Boden is expected to be sentenced to three years. She will be sentenced by Alameda County Superior Court Judge Kevin Murphy on Sept. 23.
