Alameda Women Rally for Rights on 50th Anniversary of Roe
The Alameda Chair of the National Women’s March will hold a march to Alameda City Hall on Sunday, Jan. 22. The Bigger than Roe march will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade decision. Alameda women will be rallying for human rights that go beyond the single issue of abortion. Billed as “Bigger Than Roe,” the event takes place at Alameda City Hall, located at 2263 Santa Clara Ave., from noon to 2 p.m.
The event is part of the National Day of Action spearheaded by the Women’s March organization.
“As we mourn the loss of 50 years of Constitutional protections because of the Dobbs decision, we are also sending a clear message that the Supreme Court and the Congress have failed in their obligation to protect, respect, and defend our human rights,” said Felicia Roche, one of the organizers of the Alameda rally. “Our movement is now bigger than Roe and we call on our elected leaders to protect our freedoms, support working families, and to side with the future against hateful bans that target our neighbors, strip away our rights, and take us backward.”
The Alameda chair last held an abortion rights rally in October 2021. To register for this year’s event, go to https://action.womensmarch.com/events/bigger-than-roe-alameda-1.
