The Alameda Women’s Golf Club had an exciting day of competition last Thursday, March 31, at Metropolitan Golf Course in Oakland with three-way ties in two flights. Val Buschor posted an overall 80 for the best overall gross score of the day, while Sarah Valentine posted the best low net score of 66. Sue Ferrera made a chip in for eagle at hole #2 and strokes under par on hole #3. Connie Bates was closest-to-the-pin winner on hole #7, landing her shot 12 feet from the cup.

The golfers played in seven flights. In flight 1 Lynn Kobatake took first place with a net 72. Close behind by one stroke in second place was Buschor at net 73. Stephanie Bellato shot a net 74 for third place one stroke behind Buschor. Jennie Bae shot a net 76 for fourth place.

The flight 2 competition ended in a three-way tie for first place at net 70 between Susan Ferrera, Cynthia Withrow and Laura Marinai. Only one stroke behind the three leaders was Tracey Perkins posting a net 71 for fourth place. Kathy Nagakura rounded out the top five in the flight at net 72.

Flight 3 saw more tough competition with Kimiko Hiyoshi taking first place all alone at net 71. Second place in the flight was a different story. There was another three-way tie between Alice Wong, Sherry Westernoff and Jeanne Burke who all posted a net 73. Sia Scates rounded out the top five by posting a net 76.

Valentine posted her net 66 in flight 4, in which she took first place. Madeline Sally finished in second place at net 72. Flor Ventanilla came in third place at net 75, while Lily Boris and Bernice Herzberg tied for fourth place with net 76s.

In flight 5 Sandi Kaney finished first with a net 72 followed by a tie between Connie Bates and Yvonne Lee for second place at net 73. Dee Appleton came in at net 76 for fourth place, while Peggy Marcenaro shot a net 77 for fifth place.

Jane Sullwold was the first-place winner in flight 6 with a net 68, while Barbara Mickle took second place at net 70. Susan Yoon finished at net 75 for third place, followed by Jean Eddy in 4th place at net 78.

Flight 7 low net was Siv Richards with a net 71, followed by Vivian Kang at net 75 in second place. Mary Gong finished in third place at net 76 and B. Kay Park in fourth place at net 79.
