Alamedans Logan Chen and Clara Verdickt took first place in the California Beach Volleyball Association Santa Cruz Tour Stop 1 girls’ 12-and-under U division Wednesday, June 15. Chen and Verdickt beat out seven other teams on their way to winning the tournament. Winning the Tour Stop earns them a bid to play in the CalCup Tournament in Santa Monica in August. Both players are going into seventh grade. Chen will attend Encinal Junior High School, while Verdickt will attend St. Phillip Neri. The pair both train with Red Rock Volleyball Club in Alameda.
