Alameda Soccer Club Islanders Play Friendly on Levi’s Pitch

The Alameda Soccer Club (ASC) Islanders 2009 Girls Red team played a friendly match inside Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, the home of the San Francisco 49ers, Saturday, April 9.

The team beat Manteca Football Club 2009 girls, 2-0, on a bright and sunny afternoon. ASC's defense was too much for Manteca. The Islanders did not allow a single shot in the entire game.

The event at the home of the 2016 NFL Pro Championship game was put together after ASC assistant coach Adrian Baker was contacted by Fernando Tlacuatl from Playbook. Playbook is a sports/fitness app for "athletes, trainers and influencers" that helps sports leagues handle subscriptions and registration among other resources.

Tlacuatl was organizing a day of friendly soccer matches at Levi's Stadium (Playbook is running similar events in a few selected cities nationwide) and he needed a girls team that is playing at the premier league level or higher. The Alameda Islanders 09 Girls Red team is currently in the Top 25 in NorCal and plays at the pre-National Premier League level, the highest level of competition for their age group.
