Alameda Scout Conducts Solar Walk
Alameda Troop 2 Boy Scout Ryan Liu recently completed a special Eagle Scout project with the cooperation of Alameda Parks and Recreation Department (ARPD) and Chabot Space and Science Center.
Liu, a junior at Alameda High School, created a Solar Walk along the Bay Farm Island’s Shoreline Trail. Participants of the Solar Walk were presented with informational signs that describe the solar system and its planets.
The nine signs represented the eight planets of our solar system plus the Sun. The main purpose of the project was to educate and encourage the community to learn as they go on their daily walks.
Liu began this project in August 2021. He has spent almost 200 hours on this project, which far exceeds the hours spent on most Eagle Scout projects.
