Alamedans Logan Chen and Amelia Mnich finished tied for third place out of eight teams at the California Beach Volleyball Association Santa Cruz qualifier event in the girls’ 12-and-under division Wednesday, July 20. Both players are going into seventh grade. The pair both train with Red Rock Volleyball Club in Alameda.

The Red Rock Alameda volleyball club is having open tryouts for teams at Bladium on Friday, July 29. The tryouts are for girls only, between the ages of 15 and 17. Registration costs $50. Tryouts begin at 5:45 p.m. Make-up tryouts will be held on Sunday, July 31, but these are only for available spots after the Friday, July 29 tryout. Bladium is located at 800 W. Tower Ave.
