Alameda Police Make Arrest in Connection with September Shooting

The Alameda Police Department (APD) announced Friday, April 29, that an arrest was made in connection with a shooting in September.

On Wednesday, April 27, a 23-year-old San Mateo man was taken into custody without incident for his role in the shooting. APD worked with out-of-county agencies to identify the suspect and issue an arrest warrant. The man was not identified.

On Sept. 20, 2021, just after 7 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire near Encinal and Park avenues (“Police Investigating Home Shooting,” Sept. 22, 2021). While conducting an area search, officers located a home that appeared to have been struck by gunfire. The homeowners were not present at the time of the incident.

The detailed work put forth by responding patrol officers and crimes scene technicians played a critical role in the follow-up investigation.

“Whether an incident occurred five minutes ago or five years ago, we are proud of the investment our department has in keeping our community safe and seeking closure for victims,” APD said in a press release.
