Alameda Kiwanis Awards Community Grants
On Feb. 1, the Kiwanis Foundation of Alameda awarded financial grants to the following local organizations: Alameda Family Services, Alameda Food Bank, Alameda Homeless Network/Midway Shelter, Operation Dignity, Alameda Education Foundation, Christ Episcopal Church Warming Shelter, Girls Inc. of the Island City, Alameda Boys and Girls Club, Rhythmix Culture Works, the Alameda Music Project (instrumental music program for elementary school children), Alameda Adaptive Arts (fine arts for special needs individuals), and Stagebridge (seniors performing arts program bridging generations).
“We feel this is important work for us,” said Patricia Bowen, Alameda Kiwanis Club member. “We love helping Alameda, our hometown.”
The annual community grants to non-profits are financed by the Kiwanis Foundation through fundraisers during the year. Kiwanis held a fundraiser on August 27, 2022, that generated the proceeds to dole out grants to assisting children, youth and families in need, as well as homeless veterans.
