Fans of the Island City will be glad to know one of Alameda’s greatest promoters, photographer JoanAnn Radu-Sinaiko, has produced a new calendar for 2016. Along with her husband, Andy Sinaiko, JoanAnn has produced a calendar of her Alameda photos since 2005.

The all new set of calendar images for 2016 feature six local photographers’ works. As with the previous five calendars, proceeds will benefit worthy causes.

“Volunteers give their time, energy and images to make this calendar happen,” said Radu-Sinaiko. “Businesses like cafes and gift stores also help out with our overall goal of making a difference in someone’s life!”

Purchase the calendar, featuring 13 original images of the Island City at:

• Girls Inc. of the Island City, 1724 Santa Clara Ave., 521-1743
• Marti’s Place, 1905 Encinal Ave., 521-4600
• Kim’s Nails, 3215 Encinal Ave.

Sunsets To Go chooses new organizations each year to benefit from the sale of their calendars.

“One year, we bought a few benches so the Alameda Food Bank clients could rest there if they arrived before the doors opened,” said Radu-Sinaiko. “Last year Sunsets to Go funds contributed to support brain injury survivors and pay for new paint at the Alameda Boys and Girls Club.”
