AEF Hosts Cross Country Meet

The Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) Asteroids cross country team hosted a meet on Oct. 26 at Crab Cove.

Eleven teams representing 190 sixth to eighth graders participated in four events: girls and boys 1.1 and 2.1 races. The Alameda Asteroids is AEF's middle school cross country enrichment program where students from all Alameda public middle schools train and compete together as one team. This fall, 33 students participated in the program, which introduces middle schoolers to cross country running with the hopes of developing a life-long love of running and keeping fit.

The students are coached by Debra Cramer and Don Porteous. The Alameda Asteroids is one of more than 60 after-school classes run this fall by AEF. AEF Enrichment classes support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth in a wide array of areas, from art to athletics to STEM fields.
