2022: Kick Start the New Year with Music and Art at Rhythmix

Rhythmix Cultural Works is gearing up with an exciting new season for 2022, bringing you art, culture, community and music in a mix of online, in-person and outdoor offerings. Kicking off the new year on Jan. 6 Rhythmix presents, “The Fab Four and The Stones,” a six-week music history class taught on zoom by musician, Pete Elman. According to Elman, what often gets lost in any discussion or course about the Beatles and the Rolling Stones is the simplest of facts; these were two of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. In this course, Elman examines how these two groups of young British musicians, infatuated with America, utilized 20th century popular American roots music as a launching pad to achieve fame and fortune.

If you’re curious to learn more about how these bands were influenced by the Delta Blues, Chicago blues, Nashville folk/country, New York and Los Angeles R&B, New Orleans rock and roll, Memphis rockabilly, Chuck Berry and Motown, then this is the class for you.

Discover the uncanny way in which the careers of the Beatles and the Stones paralleled each other and why one band lasted 9 years — while the other band has been touring for 56 years. The Fab Four and the Stones course runs on Thursday nights from 7 to 9 p.m., Jan 6 to Feb. 10 on ZOOM. Series and single class tickets are available.

Rhythmix is also looking forward to reopening its doors on Jan. 22 and welcoming the community to the K Gallery from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for the opening of the Essence exhibit featuring the work of Jan Watten and Kim Cheselka. Both artists are engaged with unique approaches to image making using analog film photography and painting to explore and celebrate the beauty of our world.

All guests at Rhythmix will be required to wear masks and show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours for in-person events.
