‘Cram a Cruiser’ Slated

In support of the Alameda Education Foundation’s Backpack Drive for 820 homeless, formerly homeless and low-income students in Alameda, the Alameda Police Department (APD) will be hosting its first-ever “Cram a Cruiser’ weekend.

Marked patrol vehicles will be parked in front of OfficeMax at South Shore on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 4, and 5. The public is invited to stuff the police cars with school supply donations. After the school supply drive, all donations will be sorted into backpacks and given to as many students as possible.

APD is requesting backpacks, wide and college-ruled binder paper, three-ring binders, composition notebooks, crayons, drawing pads, erasers, glue sticks, highlighter pens, index cards, no. 2 pencils, blue and red pens, pocket folders, adult and blunt scissors, wide and college-ruled spiral notebooks and subject dividers.
