‘Alameda 1900’ in Lincoln Park Saturday

Sun Staff Reports

Pack a picnic basket, don your most fetching hat, and join Period Events and Entertainment Recreations (PEERS) for Alameda 1900: A Picnic in the Park, an elegant turn-of-the-century pic¬nic among the roses. The event takes place this Saturday, Aug. 7, in Lincoln Park, 1450 High St.

While Alameda 1900 runs until 4 p.m., suggested set-up time is 10 a.m. Late Victorian- or Edwardian-era costume is admired but not required. As the August weather in Alameda can be very change¬able, we recommend hats, shawls and parasols. The event is not a general potluck. Please bring your own picnic lunch. As there are only a couple of picnic tables in the Rose Garden side of the park guests may want to bring blankets to sit on or even chairs and tables. Period-looking picnic furniture and accoutrements are very welcome and add ambience to the event!

Please follow the recommended health and safety guidelines in effect at the time of the picnic.

This event is a simple costumed gathering, so participants can admire one another from a safe distance, enjoy being outside in our lovely costumes and delight in the beauty of Lincoln Park. There are no tickets, no admission list and no cost. Just show up and enjoy a period picnic with us!

PEERS does not charge for the event. The city charges for reserving the area. Donations to cover the cost are gratefully accepted.
