St. Joseph Notre Dame junior Parker Johnson helped lead his Bay 2 Bay (B2B) boys’ youth volleyball team to a ninth-place finish in the 16-and-under Classic Division at the 49th AAU Junior Boys National Volleyball Championships.
The Alameda Mystics women’s basketball team lost the inaugural Women’s Premier Basketball Association (WPBA) championship game, 82-80, to the Oakland Swish in overtime Sunday, August 7, at the College of Alameda gymnasium.
The annual cancer research fundraiser, Relay for Life, held its Alameda event Saturday, July 23 from 1 to 10 p.m. at Jean Sweeney Park. The event was sponsored by the American Red Cross of Alameda County. Proceeds from the event benefit American Cancer Society (ACS).
St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) students Dane Grunt and Jack Hume and Class of 2022 SJND graduate Ian Doud medaled at the 2022 U.S. Rowing Youth Summer National Championships July 17 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The three Pilots are members of the Oakland Strokes Rowing team.
Alamedans Logan Chen and Amelia Mnich finished tied for third place out of eight teams at the California Beach Volleyball Association Santa Cruz qualifier event in the girls’ 12-and-under division Wednesday, July 20. Both players are going into seventh grade.
The Alameda City Swim Meet is back after a two-year pause due to COVID-19. The swim meet will take place on Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30.
