This Saturday, July 11, the Oakland Colonels will treat Alamedans to a base ball (two words, please) game that follows 1886 rules and etiquette. The players will use 1886 equipment and just might remind you of the base ball team pictured above.
Encinal Women’s Water Polo defeated Alameda 7-5 on May 29 for the WACC League Championship. With the win the Jets finished a perfect 8-0 this season.
“I was super proud of the team,” said senior Selma Malkic. “We played so well as a team and communicated a lot.”
Alameda High defeated Encinal High, 2-1, at Don Grant Field on May 13. The island rivals battled for the first time this season as the Hornets won a spirited match.

Encinal High School (EHS) has recognized six scholar-athletes for their work in the classroom and on the field. Volleyball player Madelyn Macaskill has been named EHS Female Athlete of the Year and baseball player Jeriah Lewis has been named Male Athlete of the Year.

The COVID-19 health crisis has not only affected Alameda high-school sports teams in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), it has also affected teams at the club sport level.
