The Lincoln Middle School Lions roared to a double victory by clinching the Alameda Education Foundation’s (AEF) Division I and II girls’ basketball championships. Capping an undefeated season, the Lincoln Div. I team faced off against the Wood Middle School Beavers on Jan. 24.

• St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) lost to Ygnacio Valley High of Concord, 58-49 (Jan. 23); lost to Alameda High School, 57-49 (Jan. 25); lost to Piedmont High School, 63-47 (Jan. 27).

The Alameda Girls Softball Association (AGSA) extended its spring season registration. Registration for the 8-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under, and 14-and-under divisions were extended to Jan. 13, while the 6-and-under league registration was moved to Jan. 20.

Alameda High School’s (AHS) men’s basketball coach Miles Tarver was named the Golden State Warriors Cal-Hi Sports head coach of the week. The announcement was made on the weekly Cal-Hi Sports television program on Sunday, Jan. 8.
