The Alameda High School (AHS) men’s basketball team scored six points in the final 19 seconds to defeat crosstown rival Encinal High School, 51-48, Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Hornets’ Nest.
The 47th annual Elks Hoop Shoots Alameda city finals contest was held Friday, Jan. 10, at the Alameda Point Gym. The hoop shoots contest consists of a free -throw shooting competition where each contestant has 25 opportunities to shoot a basketball into the hoop.
Alameda’s Flaming Skulls Over-40 soccer team recently won Bladium’s Soccer C League’s championship. The league plays every Thursday night. The playoffs ended with the Flaming Skulls winning the championship game, bettering their opponent on penalty kicks at the end of the match.
