Students from Alameda’s South Korean Sister City, Yeongdong-gun, recently returned home with souvenirs and stories from the United States (“Sister City’s Students Pay Visit to City Hall,” Jan. 31).

Carlin Shannon, a graduating senior at Encinal High School, has been named one of more than 4,500 candidates in the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools this year.

Public invited to see how students would use one plot

The College of Alameda has organized five study-abroad programs this year, which are open to the public: Anthropology in Iceland; Physical Geography in Costa Rica; Art History in Germany; Dance, Intercultural Communications and African-American Studies in Ghana and Anthropology in New Zealand.
