Students at Alameda High School (AHS) are in the early stages of a pilot program they hope will lower the amount of single-use plastics used by students during lunchtime.

Sixth months ago the Alameda Unified School District explored the possibility of combining the Island’s two public high schools. Last Friday’s rivalry between Alameda and Encinal high schools reminded the community that the Island Bowl is a tradition worth keeping.
Local residents, organizations, businesses and the city’s Recreation and Parks Department recently teamed up to create a performing arts space in Krusi Park. The space is open to the public to express themselves.
