Unfortunately the Alameda Sun was not able to obtain a list of the Alameda Community Learning Center’s (ACLC) list of graduates by press time. The Sun is looking forward to publishing the names of the ACLC grads in a future issue.

Alameda High School’s Creative Writing Circle is putting together a journal to distribute to the general public. The Circle accepting poetry, short stories and art pieces from Alameda High students and alumni. 

The results of this year’s National Public Radio Student Podcast Challenge were announced on June 3. The Challenge received more than 2,200 podcast entries from students all over the country.

Encinal High School (EHS) has recognized six scholar-athletes for their work in the classroom and on the field. Volleyball player Madelyn Macaskill has been named EHS Female Athlete of the Year and baseball player Jeriah Lewis has been named Male Athlete of the Year.

What was supposed to be an end of the year event turned into an online extravaganza for the Alameda High School (AHS) drama department. On May 22, the drama department livestreamed The Living Room Cabaret.

Local ice cream shop, Tucker’s Supercreamed Ice Cream — famous for creating one-of-a-kind homemade flavors for special occasions — has announced a contest for its latest flavor open solely to the Class of 2020.

Carol Ng, a senior at the Alameda Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), has been named the 33rd annual winner of the $5,000 Ken and Shirley Van Sickle Scholarship. Ng is a top student at ASTI.

Michael Proffitt, 17, was required to earn 21 merit badges on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout. As the highest rank in Boy Scouts. Some 2,250,000 boys have achieved Eagle rank since the award was first presented in 1912.
