The Kiwanis Club of Alameda held a celebratory luncheon on May 17 for the seven Alameda eighth graders that received the 2023 Hope of America award. Alameda Kiwanis recognizes young leadership in each eighth-grade classroom.
For the second year in a row, Encinal Jr/Sr High School’s (EHS) yearbook, “Horizon” earned design recognition from Jostens, its yearbook publisher.

Bay Farm Middle School sixth grader Lydia Merrit-Derieg's poem, “The Silent Turning,” was selected as one of the ten best in the fourth- to sixth-grade division of the Fall 2022 Creative Communication poem contest.
The Alameda Kiwanis Foundation has extended its scholarship application deadline to Monday, April 24. The previous deadline was April 9. The extension is to allow more graduating seniors from Alameda city high schools to apply for the Kiwanis Foundation scholarship.
Encinal High School student Jada Solis recently completed a health training program that taught her how to offer aid to someone suffering from an opioid overdose.
Engineering and Design class students at Island High School (IHS) recently used the school’s 3D printer to help a young student who is hard of hearing.
For the second straight year the Jets are the kings of the Island. Encinal High School's (EHS) chess club defeated Alameda High on March 12 in the second annual "Island Board." The Jets won 21 out of 36 matches during the event held at Encinal High School.
