The Alameda County Arts Commission invites artists to attend one of two grant-application workshops to learn about the 2014 Artsfund grants program. The commission will host a workshop next Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the county’s Lakeside Plaza Building, 401 Lakeside Dr.
Alameda resident Mark E. Miller announced recently the release of “Donkey Sanctuary,” the first in a series of comics he conceived while travelling in Ronda, Spain, in 2012. The comic books feature a team of animal superfriends drawn by Oakland-based illustrator Greta Aalborg-Volper.
The latest exhibit opening at Park Street Plaza’s Gary Francis Fine Art, titled Urban Grit, is described as a portrait of urban life. The show opens tomorrow night, Friday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. and will be on display through Feb. 2.
