The Red Cross clubs at Alameda’s high schools are currently raising funds for Nothing But Nets, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sending mosquito nets to Sub-Saharan Africa.

California home sales fell in February, but housing inventory increased as sellers gear up for the spring home-buying season, the California Association of Realtors (C.A.R.) reported on March 17.

Alameda resident Annette Sandoval is a prolific writer who often sets her works in the Bay Area. Women Are Like Chickens is her latest novel, the story of four Mexican American friends raised in San Francisco during the 1980s.

In support and recognition of children battling cancer, Alameda resident Marianna Martinez, 11, participated in the St. Baldrick’s Day event at Oakland Children’s Hospital.
