Girls Inc. says thanks

Editor:
Thanks to the generous and enthusiastic support of our sponsors, attendees, donors and volunteers, Girls Inc. of the Island City had an incredibly empowering and inspirational “Hats Off to Women Who Dare” luncheon at the gorgeous Oakland Scottish Rite Center on March 18.

The event raised more than $100,000 to support innovative and transformative programs that inspire girls to be strong (healthy), smart (educated), and bold (independent). A special shout out to our hardworking and dedicated board of directors, the Women Who Dare committee and staff who helped make Women Who Dare 2017 the most successful luncheon to date.

Hats off to our major sponsors: AEC Living and Phoenix Commons, Kaiser Permanente, Salesforce.org, Alameda Hospital, Cool Safety, LLC, the Felts Family, Kane & Associates Realtors, Lauren Kelley and family and Shum Financial Group. For a full list of all of our Women Who Dare sponsors and supporters, and photos of the event, visit www.womenwhodare2017.com.

Please support these individuals and organizations who not only contribute to Girls Inc. of the Island City, but also provide time, talent and treasure to so many local and East Bay youth and communities.

Congratulations again to these exceptional girls, teens and women who rocked the house and demonstrated strong, smart and bold in so many remarkable and diverse ways. These included honorees Jeannie Graham, Olivia Higgins, Maryam Nasirova, Elizabeth Onibokun, Kari Thompson and Alice Wilson-Fried; Best Foot Forward girls Alexa, Alstyne, Arianna, Daneisha, Elinor, Emiko, Jessica, Lauren, Maya, Preston, Qiara, Savanah, Sesina, Tayler and Tillie; and teen presenter and speaker Mary Carmen Reid.
