The pride of the U.S. Coast Guard at its latest drug seizures is misguided (“Bertholf Unloads Drugs,” Nov. 26).
The war on drugs is a war on poor people of color. It has turned Mexico into a killing field and made the United States number one in both the rate of incarceration and population of prisoners, the overwhelming majority of which are poor people of color.
Do black lives matter? Not if 40 percent of African-American males between 20 and 40 are in jail.
