Falsely accused for activities at Del Monte

Editor:

Tim Lewis Communities (TLC) wishes to respond to Frank D’Amico’s letter to City Clerk Lara Weisiger regarding tractor trailer activity at the Del Monte warehouse, which we understand has been a nuisance to neighbors. ("TLC has little regard for community," Nov. 20).

To clarify, TLC is not the owner of the Del Monte warehouse and DAMCO leases space from the current owner. TLC is in contract to purchase the property and currently has a plan before the city to transform the site into an updated mixed-use development with housing, walkable retail and a revitalized waterfront. Our plan will permanently eliminate the tractor-trailer activity and traffic to and from the warehouse.

When we were made aware of increased tractor-trailer activity at Del Monte last week, TLC worked with the city and DAMCO to help mitigate the noise and congestion. In fact, DAMCO contracted with the Alameda Police Department to monitor activity and calm traffic. We have heard back from neighbors that the issue is indeed being resolved.

We look forward to being a part of the community and creating new uses for the warehouse that complement the existing residential neighborhood.
