Delta Zeta says ‘thanks’

Editor:

The Delta Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a national organization of women educators whose mission is to promote professional and personal growth of educators, recently held a fundraising event. The speaker was Gail Tsukiyama, a Bay Area resident, bestselling author of seven novels and the recipient of the Academy of American Poets Award and the PEN Literary Award.

She was a vibrant speaker who used a sense of humor and told the audience of mostly educators, about her writing process and the inspirations for her many novels.

More than 115 guests enjoyed wine, cheese, desserts and coffee. Their attendance supported Delta Zeta community projects. These included citizenship awards for fifth- and eight-grade Alameda students; Sweet Dreams Holiday Gifts for Alameda homeless families, and support for the school district’s new teachers.

The Delta Zeta chapter would like to thank Gail Tsukiyama for her time and her engaging presentation and to the Trinity Lutheran Church that was the perfect location for the event. We thank everyone who supported our Alameda projects.
