Penny wise and pound foolish

The Alameda Sun is still the voice Of Alameda, regardless of the City Council’s “penny-wise, pound-foolish” decision to award its newspaper contract to the Alameda Journal.

A visit to the Journal’s letters-to-the-editor page confirms its cursory coverage of Alameda issues. In its June 25 edition, there were letters from readers in Pleasant Hill, Oakland, Berkeley, and Antioch; not one from Alameda.

Wikipedia’s description of the Journal fits: “The Alameda Journal is an American weekly paid newspaper which serves the city of Oakland and surrounding Alameda County, California. The Alameda Journal is now published under the name East Bay Times.”

Please keep the Alameda Sun’s vital “Voice Of Alameda” alive with subscriptions and donations.
