Members of Rhythmix Cultural Works' resident belly dancing class performed smack dab in the middle of Webster Street last weekend as part of the Chamber of Commerce's Neptune Beach Community Celebration. The event was designed to recall the days of recreational bathing resorts along the southern shore of Alameda. The most famed resort, Neptune Beach, "the Coney Island of the West," stood at Webster Street and Central Avenue from 1917 to 1939. Along with live music headlined by the Bob Claire orchestra, the faire featured a 40-foot slide for kids of all ages to enjoy.
