Arrests Made in Robbery, Murder

Last Tuesday, Alameda Police Department (APD) investigators assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit arrested two suspects from an Aug. 17 armed robbery that took place on the 3000 block of Main Street. According to APD the suspects pistol whipped the victims, took personal items and fled in vehicles.

APD took one adult male and one juvenile male, both Oakland residents, into custody without incident. Police have also identified a second adult male suspect, already in custody on an unrelated charge. APD executed search warrants and seized evidence at two Oakland locations.

According to Police Chief Mike Noonan, the investigation involved about a dozen victims.

Oakland police have annouced an arrest in the Aug. 24 murder of 20-year-old Alameda resident Shanika Latham ("Alameda Woman Murdered" Aug. 30), Julius Scott is being held without bail at Santa Rita jail in Dublin. Scott, a convicted robber, also injured Latham's boyfriend, whose name police have not released.
