Shanika Latham, 20, of Alameda was shot and killed about 12:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24. Latham and her 25- year-old boyfriend, whom police have not identified, were riding in a car in the 900 block of 48th Avenue in East Oakland when the shooting took place, Oakland Police Department (OPD) said. The boyfriend was wounded in the shooting; he is expected to survive, police said. He was able to drive to the hospital, where Latham was pronounced dead. His name was not released. Police have not uncovered a motive; no arrests have been made. OPD and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting.
