Fire damaged this Victorian-era home in the 1300 block of Pearl Street on Tuesday. The Alameda Fire Department (AFD) received the alarm at 3:11 p.m. and arrived on scene three minutes later. Four engines and two ladder trucks responded to the alarm. According to AFD Captain James Colburn no one was at home when the fire broke out in the home, which has been converted to a duplex. The downstairs unit sustained more damage than the upstairs unit. Engines from Oakland Fire Department provided mutual aid, covering the station houses while the AFD fought the fire, which was knocked down at 3:49 p.m. No injuries were reported; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
