An Alameda resident was one of two people charged in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old man on Thursday, July 5, in Oakland.
Oakland Police Department (OPD) arrested Victoria Martinez, 22, of Alameda for allegedly killing Curtis Williams, of Oakland. OPD also arrested Ty Hua, 37, of Oakland, for being an accessory to murder after the fact.
Martinez allegedly shot and killed Williams during an argument in an RV Williams owned and parked in front of Hua's home on the 2400 block of 24th Avenue in Oakland on July 5, according to Oakland police officer Phong Tran. OPD does not know what the argument was about or what triggered the fatal reaction.
After Williams' death, Martinez asked Hua to help her dispose of the body, according to OPD. Hua was not present when Williams was killed. An informant, who the police are not identifying, demanded Hua tell OPD about the body or the informant would. Hua called police Friday night saying he just found the body in the RV, but OPD said his story did not add up and investigators detained him until the next day when he was arrested at police headquarters.
After interrogating Hua, OPD was able to arrest Martinez at her home in Alameda Saturday, July 7.
OPD believes Williams was, at one point, friends with both Hua and Martinez, but are not sure the extent of the three individuals' relationship.
This is not the first time Martinez has been arrested. She was charged with public intoxication in Alameda on Feb. 13 of last year.
Both suspects are being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. Martinez is being held without bail and Hua's bail is set at $20,000.
