How to Make Your Own Deodorant
Written by Corey Hill    Published: Thursday, 26 November 2009

Most conventional deodorants are made with a host of toxic chemicals, including aluminum chlorohydrate, propylene glycol, and parabens, among others. Scientists have determined that the build up of the toxic chemicals found in deodorant and other cosmetic products can, over time, lead to increased risk of certain cancers and Alzheimer's disease.

There are many options available to avoid the possible health risk associated with chemicals in deodorant.

All natural, chemical-free deodorants are available on-line at Amazon.com simply by querying 'chemical free deodorant.'

Many specialty cosmetics stores carry chemical free, all-natural deodorants. The best solution, though, may be to make your own deodorant. The benefits of the do it yourself approach are many: It is cheaper, it is better for the environment, and you can have a little fun!

Ingredients: 1 part baking soda 1 part cornstarch 1 air-tight container

Simply mix the dry ingredients in an air-tight container. Use a cotton ball or soft cotton cloth to apply the finished product in the desired amount, dabbing lightly. The baking soda acts as a deodorizer, while the cornstarch acts as a light antiperspirant.

Enjoy knowing that you will keep yourself fresh in a chemical free, affordable, and environmentally sustainable way.
