Street fair shines despite raindrops

Last Sunday's Webster Street Jam was served up with more than a spoonful of politics. Proponent and opponents in the movement to recall three of the five school board trustees set up tables near Webster Street and Haight Avenue.

One of those trustees, Ron Mooney, top right, took time to speak to those attending the street fair at a table sponsored by the "No on Alameda Recall Campaign."

Just across Webster proponents of the recall SERVE Alameda collected signatures of anyone agreeing that Mooney or fellow trustees Niel Tam and Trish Spencer should lose their seats for supporting the school district's anti-bullying curriculum.

At the same time David Howard, bottom right, was on hand to convince Alamedans who signed the petition supporting SunCal to have their names removed from the petition. SunCal was present in a sponsor's booth.
