On December 2, 2008, approximately 10:26 p.m., the Police Department received a 911 call from a resident who saw three males running from a burning structure in front of 1121 Willow Street. Several officers arrived and assisted the Alameda Fire Department with evacuation of the structure along with traffic control.

The suspects were gone prior to police arrival. The suspects had thrown an incendiary device into the structure (which was not occupied at the time) causing the fire. AFD controlled the fire and relinquished the scene to the Police Department, which then secured it as a crime scene.

Alameda Police detectives responded, including an arson investigator from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. No one was injured in the fire. The Police Department is conducting a criminal investigation which is ongoing.

The investigation is continuing as detectives follow leads to identify those responsible in this case.

APD urges anyone with information about this crime to contact the department at 337-8340.
