Churchward celebrates its third anniversary on Park Street with several events this month

The Churchward Pub is about to celebrate its third anniversary; they are a sports bar/night spot. This bar used to be named the Pop Inn. When Joey and Lisa Churchward started their business at the Pop Inn, they gutted the building down to the studs.

Behind one wall in particular was some history. The Churchwards found paintings that appear to be from the 1940s.

They took pictures of the paintings, and now keep them in a history scrapbook. They found other things, but this discovery of the bar's long history adds just a little more glamour to this famous Park Street pub. Joey and Lisa painted the ceiling gold, installed wainscoting and a brand-new floor. They built the bar to their design; the Churchwards have built this bar from the bottom up.

They have also built their clientele to become the hottest night spot in Alameda, and if you were to ask anyone, they might even say the East Bay.

Many people call to reserve a space for their birthday parties. Joey and Lisa offer bottle service and table reservations anytime (you buy a bottle of liquor, and they will provide you with all the fixin's that go along with it, like a bucket of ice, orange juice, all the things you need to pour and mix your drinks at your leisure and strength of drink, at your reserved table for the evening.) Lisa can help you with the decorations if you are short of time.

Sundays the Churchward has the NFLTicket, and the Major League Baseball Network. They offer free barbecue and pizza with seven flat screen TVs and drink specials; perfect to go along with Sunday football! During Monday Night Football the Churchward offers drink specials.

Wednesdays through Saturdays, the Churchward hosts DJs who know how to pump the crowd, get the party going and keep it going. The DJs are DJ Riktor, and DJ Alex Mejia. In the near future, the Churchward plans on bringing DJs from San Francisco and Las Vegas. Friday, Oct. 26, DJ Jose Melehndaz will be spinning at the Churchward.

The Churchward celebrated its third anniversary on Oct. 7, with a free barbecue starting at noon, along with drink specials, eight flat screen TVs and a bunch of fun.
