Described as a "man of the people," and a "man of great integrity" Hadi Monsef passed away last Thursday.

Hadi was appointed to the City Council on May 17, 1983, to fill the vacancy left by Anne Diament when she was elected mayor. Alameda voters elected Hadi to the City Council in his own right in 1985 and he served as vice mayor from May 21, 1985 to May 19, 1987. He continued serving on the council until April 18, 1989.
